Veronica Byun

VERONICA JUYOUN BYUN is the Assistant Coordinator and Instructor of Ceramic Arts at MWPAI. She was born in Seoul, Korea and educated in the US, receiving her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, R.I. and BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. She has exhibited in galleries and public institutions in New York, Philadelphia, Palm Beach, Chicago, Providence, Attleboro, San Angelo, Maryland, Seoul, Korea, Varazdin, Croatia, Kapfenburg, Austria, Taipei, Taiwan, and Fienza, Italy. Kim Carr Valdez

KIM CARR VALDEZ received her BA in Studio Art from Hartwick College and her MFA in Sculpture from Syracuse University. Her sculptures have recently been included in the 63rd Exhibition of Central New York Artists at MWPAI and in a solo exhibition at the Earlville Opera House Arts Center. Her work has been exhibited extensively in New York City. She was a resident artist at Sculpture Space and at Chashama's Brooklyn Army Terminal. Kim also teaches 3D Design at PrattMWP and currently lives in Utica with her husband Paul and son Jackson.

Paula Caruana

PAULA CARUANA received her bachelors degree in Art Education from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified art teacher in Pennsylvania, and has taught art in grades K-12 in public and parochial schools in suburban Philadelphia and Lockport, NY. Paula has done post graduate studies in ceramics, watercolors, drawing, printmaking and calligraphy. She exhibits and sells her ceramic sculptures regionally and is a long time student in the ceramics program at MWPAI. Since 2000, Paula has been a Decorative Arts Assistant in MWPAIs Museum of Art Decorative Arts Department, at Fountain Elms.

Chris Cirillo

CHRISTOPHER CIRILLO regularly exhibits his work and has shown in a variety of galleries and art centers in NY State and in the Midwest. He has instructed design, color theory, painting, and drawing courses for PrattMWP, Mohawk Valley Community College, Empire State University and also for Kirkland Art Center. Chris received his MFA in visual arts from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University and his BFA in painting and drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Sandra DeVisser

SANDRA DEVISSER has been an instructor at the School of Art since 1980 where she developed the Young Artists program. Sandra has previously taught painting and art history at SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome. She received her bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from SUNY Albany, masters from Colgate University, and was awarded a certificate in Fine Art from MWPAI. Sandra’s work has been shown extensively in solo and group exhibitions throughout Central New York.

Michael Giordani MICHAEL GIORDANI graduated from PrattMWP and Pratt Institute with a BFA in painting.
He is a Utica transplant, being born in New York City and raised in Long Island, NY. Michael is also a full time TA at the House of The Good Shepherd in Utica, NY and enjoys nothing more than fostering the creative spark in others.
Annette Goldmacher

ANNETTE GOLDMACHER is the Museum Education Coordinator at the MWPAI Museum of Art. She received her BA in Classical Studies and German from Colgate University and her MA from Syracuse University's Graduate Program in Museum Studies. She has instructed undergraduate students in the History of Design: 1850s-Present and is looking forward to bringing ancient art back into her teaching.

Annette Gurdo

ANNETTE GURDO has been actively working and exhibiting her paintings in Central NY for more than 20 years. In addition to being honored numerous commissions, her work is included in private collections throughout the Northeast. She received an Associate Degree in Fine Arts from MVCC/ Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute and a BFA in Drawing & Painting at the Philadelphia College of Art.

Christi Harrington

CHRISTI HARRINGTON is an Associate Professor of Art at MVCC. She received her BFA from the University of Michigan and began studying the figure while abroad in Italy. Christi completed an MFA in sculpture from the New York Academy of Art while also working with several public sculpture artists. Christi has several public figurative commissions installed in the region including “Song of Innocence,” in Ithaca and “Giving,” in Utica, NY. www.christiharrington.com

NICOLE HESS is a PrattMWP alumni with a BFA in Ceramics from Pratt Institute. She is experienced in wood and salt firing, was a demo thrower for Standard Ceramic Supply, and has worked in a commercial pottery studio in Brooklyn , NY.

Chris Irick

CHRIS IRICK received a BFA in metalsmithing from Texas Tech University and an MFA in metals from UMASS Dartmouth. She has taught jewelry for many years in both college and adult education programs. She is currently Professor of Metal Arts and the head of the jewelry program at PrattMWP. Her work has been featured in Metalsmith and American Craft magazines, The Metalsmith’s Book of Boxes and Lockets, 500 Pendants & Lockets, 500 Brooches, 500 Bracelets, The Art and Craft of Making Jewelry, and The Penland Book of Jewelry. Sarah Kilian

SARAH TUCKERMAN KILIAN has taught in the Utica schools since 1990, She is a graduate of William Smith College in Geneva, NY, and received her MS in Art Education from Syracuse University. Her goal in teaching her students is to give them the roots of knowledge of art techniques and concepts, with the wings of confidence and skill to fly successfully and create their own creative masterpieces.

Soojin Kim SOOJIN KIM is a multidisciplinary Korean artist who works in Korea and the U.S. After receiving an MS in electrical engineering, Soojin pursued her MFA at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. Recent awards include the Boit Award for independent studio practice, the Dana Pond Award in painting, and a MASS Moca Artist Residency. Yulia Levkovich

YULIA LEVKOVICH is an award-winning representational painter. She was born in Ukraine and moved to Canada where she was exposed to the Russian School of Painting. Yulia completed rigorous training at the Academy of Realist Art, received her BFA from OCAD University, Toronto, and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art, Manhattan. She worked in production for Jeff Koons and taught at several institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Eric Mishalanie

ERIC MISHALANIE completed the MWPAI/ MVCC program before receiving his photography BA from Maryland Institute College of Art. Previous projects include photo documentation for the Neighborhood Design Center, Baltimore, MD and teaching at Danella Photographic, New Hartford, NY. Eric currently owns and operates Mishalanie Photography which covers a wide range of photographic services.

Joseph Murphy JOSEPH MURPHY is an illustrator who uses atmosphere and light to create dream-like images for projects in book publishing, editorial, and entertainment fields. Joseph received his BFA and MFA in Illustration from Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts. I have taught as an adjunct instructor at Syracuse University, Cazenovia College, and PrattMWP.
Meghan Murphy Pagano

MEGHAN MURPHY PAGANO received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College. She holds a BFA in Photography and Art Education from the College of Saint Rose and an Associates degree in Fine Arts and Illustration from MVCC. Meghan teaches art at many institutions throughout the Mohawk Valley, is an active professional photographer, and has founded and produced multiple collaborative public arts projects.

Kyle Pumilio

KYLE PUMILIO received his education from PrattMWP and SUNY Potsdam. As a certified art teacher, Kyle has the privilege of working with diverse students of all ages.Through his artistic investigations, he has found a long lasting love for working with ceramics and the three dimensional form. Kyle believes becoming an accomplished artist takes hard work, determination, and a love for what you’re doing.

L. David Pye L. DAVID PYE is Dean and Professor of Glass Science, Emeritus, the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. He is an honored teacher, scholar and researcher and has served as President of the International Commission on Glass(ICG) and the American Ceramic Society(ACerS). He is a Distinguished Life Member of ACerS, an Honorary Member of the German Society of Glass Technology, and an Honorary Fellow of the British Society of Glass Technology - one of 6 Americans citizens to receive this honor over the last century. He has received several professional achievement awards including the ICG President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the New York State University Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship and Creativity, the Phoenix Award for Glassman of year, and the American Society of Engineering Education Award for Excellence in Teaching.
He co-founded several continuing conference series on glass including Advances in the Fusion and Processing of Glass and the US University Conferences on Glass Science. In 2013 he presented the Key Note Address at the 23rd International Congress on Glass in Prague, Cz. In 2015 he received the Mal McClaren Award from Rutgers State University and in 2016 the ACerS Toledo Glass and Ceramics Award. He served as the Founding Editor of the ACerS International Journal of Applied Glass Science 2010 – 2017 and in May, 2018 the Glass and Optical Materials Division of the American Ceramic Society convened a special symposium in his honor with the theme - Dawn of the Glass Age: New Horizons in Glass Science, Engineering and Applications. He is also an aspiring stained glass artist.

CARLIE SHERRY received her BFA in Painting from SUNY Potsdam and her MFA in Painting from Syracuse University. She is an Adjunct Instructor at Utica College and PrattMWP. Shannon Stockbridge

SHANNON STOCKBRIDGE received her BFA in sculpture through PrattMWP and graduated from Pratt Institute. Jewelry is her primary medium and she has been creating a wearable collection using the lost-was casting method as well as incorporation alternative materials into her pieces.
